To deliver safe, exciting, foam-based play experiences that bring active fun indoors and outdoors for kids and families everywhere.
We began our journey in 1969 when toy developer Reyn Guyer approached Parker Brothers with a concept for indoor sports games. After reviewing the foam ball component of his pitch, Parker Brothers decided to launch it as a standalone product. We introduced the four-inch polyurethane foam Nerf Ball that same year, marketing it as the world's first official indoor ball with the tagline that you could throw it indoors without breaking windows or hurting babies or old people. The product sold over four million units by year's end.
Our expansion into blasters came in 1989 with the Blast-a-Ball, followed by the groundbreaking Bow 'n' Arrow in 1991 and the Sharpshooter in 1992, which was the first blaster to fire actual darts. We merged with Kenner Products in 1991, and subsequently became part of Hasbro's portfolio. In 2010, we merged with the Super Soaker brand, expanding our water blaster offerings.
Over the decades, we have continuously innovated with new product lines including N-Strike Elite, Rival (launched in 2015 for older users), Ultra (2019 with the farthest-flying darts), and Hyper (2021 with high-capacity rubber-like rounds). By 1995, over one hundred million Nerf products had been sold worldwide, and we generate approximately $400 million in annual revenue under the Nerf brand. Our slogan 'It's Nerf or Nothin'!' has become iconic since its introduction in the 1990s.
At the core of Nerf Guns is Proprietary Nerf foam made from partially reticulated polyether polyurethane that creates soft, lightweight projectiles safe for indoor play.
